West Palm Beach, FL – The Firm’s First Party Property Practice marked its third trial victory of the year last Friday when a Palm Beach Jury unanimously agreed with our client’s property damage claim and awarded him additional money from his insurance company, Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Company (“Universal”), to restore his home to its pre-loss condition.

In June 2020, our client’s home was impacted by a windstorm resulting in significant damage to his property. After water remediation efforts were taken, Universal sent their field adjuster, whom was employee by a subsidiary company of Universal, to the property. Afterwards, Universal issued a low-ball payment to our client.

After more than two years of litigation, Kanner & Pintaluga Partners John Edwards y Jeffrey Groover, tried the case before a six-member jury. The plaintiff’s expert and defense experts both presented testimony that Universal’s coverage determination and estimate was incorrect. Following the four-day trial, the jury returned a verdict finding that our client was owed more than three times the amount Universal initially paid for the damages in order to restore his home to back to its pre-loss condition.
