Alexis G. Cownan is an Attorney in Kanner & Pintaluga’s Personal Injury Litigation Group.

Prior to joining Kanner & Pintaluga, Alexis gained extensive experience handling complex personal injury matters at two Houston-based boutique law firms. His practice included the litigation of high-exposure wrongful-death, commercial trucking, premises liability, and negligent-security cases. He represented plaintiffs in significant injury matters.

In addition to his litigation experience, Alexis played a key role in developing litigation strategies, discovery processes, training programs, and case-management systems for high-value personal injury matters. This experience provided him with a strong foundation in personal injury litigation and a comprehensive understanding of the strategies and challenges involved in representing injured clients.

Alexis received a B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin. He completed his J.D. at the University of Houston Law Center. While attending law school, Alexis had some key achievements:

  • Judicial Clerk to the Honorable Evelyn Keyes
  • Texas First Court of Appeals (Houston, TX), Summer 2015
  • Researched and drafted memoranda on civil and criminal appellate issues; presented findings during justice panel discussions and advised on pending opinions.

Alexis has obtained specialized legal certifications, including A.A. White Dispute Resolution Center — Certificate, Commercial Arbitration, completed in 2017, and continues to engage in continuing legal education to stay at the forefront of developments in personal injury.

Alexis has achieved several significant milestones in his legal career, including:

  • Eight-figure commercial-vehicle settlement: led the liability investigation and discovery development that drove an 8-figure resolution of a commercial motor vehicle collision case.
  • Seven-figure negligent-security settlement: one of two attorneys of record in the action against the Texas Renaissance Festival (largest renaissance festival in the world); the resolution forced the venue to strengthen its guest-safety and security protocols.
  • Seven-figure premises-liability: secured a top-ranking 2026 Texas slip-and-fall settlement
  • Excess verdict at trial: member of the trial team in a Stowers failure-to-settle case in which the verdict was returned above the defendant’s policy limits.
  • $24 million+ aggregate recovery: for clients across roughly 330 matters over four years, as part of the litigation team.

These accomplishments underscore Alexis skill, dedication, and commitment to clients.
