Verdicts & Settlements: $800,000 Recovered for Clients in South Florida Four-Car Pileup

July 7,2020, Cena, Latvia, damaged cars on the highway at the scene of an accident because of non-observance of distance

Palm Beach, FL – The Firm’s Personal Injury Litigation Practice recently recovered $800,000 for two clients stemming from a South Florida four-car pileup.

In June 2013, our clients were on their way to celebrate a birthday when, while stopped, they were suddenly and unexpectedly crashed into from behind by a commercial vehicle owned by a local pest control company. This pest control driver hit our clients so hard that he caused a four-car pileup. As a result of the impacts, our young client and his mother both sought extensive medical care for several years. The young man was ultimately told he was too young for surgery and his mom, after struggling for years with back pain and failing conservative care, ultimately had a lumbar fusion. Due to the negligent drivers’ actions, Kanner & Pintaluga’s personal injury team, led by Howard Kanner, filed suit against both the driver and his employer.

During the course of the case, it became abundantly clear that the defense’s strategy was to take advantage of our client’s background and history — being that they were both immigrants. Not only were they planning on trying to shame our clients for their “immigration status”, but they also contested the extent of our clients injuries suggesting the crash was not serious enough to cause the stated injuries. Undeterred by the defense’s tactics, our Firm pushed forward knowing that justice would ultimately prevail.

From the onset, our trial team confronted the defense on their trial strategy and was able to convince the judge to invalidate it. When the case finally reached the top of the trial docket, attorneys for the defendants and trial attorney Mina Grace were able to settle the matter for a combined $800,000 delivering the justice our clients had sought from the beginning.
