Lee Gill Cohen is a partner in Kanner & Pintaluga’s Personal Injury Practice and the Director of Personal Injury Litigation for the Firm.
With over 35 years of legal experience, Lee is a distinguished litigator who has been fighting for the rights of victims his entire career. Prior to joining Kanner & Pintaluga, Lee served as a prosecutor at the Office of the State Attorney in Broward County and tried over 100 jury trials, spanning from theft to vehicular homicide to murder. He spent his last 16 years at the prosecutor’s office as the Chief Assistant of the County Court/DUI Division, supervising 48 attorneys and the support staff in four courthouses. In 2011, Lee left government service and went into private practice litigating civil personal injury, commercial and sexual abuse cases.
In 2017, Lee brought his extensive and diverse experience to Kanner & Pintaluga where he handled a broad range of personal injury matters in the Firm’s Personal Injury Litigation practice group. In 2020, Lee was promoted to Litigation Supervisor, and soon after, the Managing Attorney of that practice group. He used his administrative experience to devise and revise processes and procedures so that the Firm could best support its Florida trial litigators in advancing their cases towards trial and ultimately obtaining the best resolution for the Firm’s clients.
In 2025, in order to continue to bring the success of the Firm’s Florida Personal Injury Litigation practice group to the Firm’s rapidly expanding National personal injury litigation presence, Lee was promoted to the Director of Personal Injury Litigation for the Firm’s National Personal Injury Litigation practice. In addition to his administrative responsibilities, in specific matters, Lee continues his zealous representation of victims of crime, and the negligence of others, pursuing personal injury actions on their behalf. Finally, Lee always makes himself available to develop and mentor the practice group’s newer trial litigators.
Over the course of his career, Lee has been repeatedly recognized for his victim advocacy and legal accomplishments. He has drafted and testified before the Florida Legislature concerning various pieces of criminal justice legislation benefitting victims of crime. He has received numerous awards from Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the Florida Prosecuting Attorney’s Association, and the Office of the State Attorney in Broward County. He was also the recipient of the 2008 National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Award for Public Service, the highest honor awarded by that federal agency to a civilian non-employee, and the 2003 Broward Crime Commission Prosecutor of the Year Award.
Lee was named by South Florida Legal Guide 2008, 2009 and 2010 Top Government Attorney, Criminal Division. He served as a member of the Mothers Against Drunk Driving Advisory Board, the Broward Crime Commission Associate Advisory Board and the National Crime Victim Bar Association. He also does educational presentations for The Florida Bar as well as at Kanner & Pintaluga’s annual TBI Symposium.
