John Downs is an attorney in the Firm’s Property Damage Practice.

John specializes in litigating, and trying, first party property damage matters.  He honed his litigation and trial skills while at the Broward County Public Defender’s Office where he worked his way up the ranks to become a lead felony Public Defender.  During his role as a Public Defender, John was the lead attorney in over 24 trials, three of which were punishable by life in prison.  Hard work and rigorous preparation led to three punishable by life not guilty verdicts.  While most cases do not go to trial, John prepares all his cases as if they are.

John loves the outdoors and is passionate about conserving the great resources the state of Florida has to offer. With his passion for the state, comes his passion to fight for his fellow Floridians. Unfortunately, many insurance companies undervalue or even improperly deny coverage for claims. His goal is to get his clients what is rightfully theirs so they can restore their property to its pre-loss condition.

John received a B.S. from the University of Central Florida. He completed his J.D. at St. Thomas University School of Law where he developed skills to be a trial attorney on the school’s trial team.  He competed in many mock trial competitions throughout the country providing the foundation for trial work.
