November 12, 2021Verdicts & Settlements: Broward Jury Returns $419,000 Verdict in Stop Sign Collision Case
Fort Lauderdale, FL – A South Florida jury returned a $419,000 verdict this week in favor of our client who was injured in high speed collision in Broward county.
The automobile negligence case, which was tried by KP trial attorneys Berkin Aslan and Marc de Lavalette, stemmed from a 2017 motor vehicle collision in which the defendant driver ran a stop sign at a high rate of speed and crashed into our client’s vehicle causing serious injuries. The insurance company’s offer before trial was just $50,000 and argued that our client contributed to the accident because he was talking on his cell phone via Bluetooth at the time of the crash and failed to see the Defendant. The jury found otherwise and awarded our client $35,000 for his medical bills, $134,000 for future medicals, and $250,000 in past and future pain and suffering.
The case is Liam J. Fellows v. Mercury Indemnity Company of America, case number CACE–18-013527 in the Circuit Court of the 17th Judicial Circuit, Broward County, Florida.
Correction Note: The initial release of this article incorrectly indicated the defendant driver ran a red light when in fact it was a stop sign.
