According to authorities the accident took place at the intersection of N Bumby Avenue and Vivada Street, near Druid Lake. Reports say a Ford F-150 pickup truck collided head-on with a Fiat 500.
Troopers said the Ford was traveling on N Bumby Avenue while the Fiat was approaching from Vivada Street. The Fiat refused to slow down while approaching the intersection causing the accident, officials said. Authorities did not give an official statement saying why the Fiat refused to slow down and say the incident is still under investigation as they look into the actual cause of the crash.
EMS arrived to the scene of the accident soon after it happened to administer on-site first aid to the injured victims. Emergency crews reported that the driver of the pickup truck was pinned inside and had to be extracted from the vehicle. Both victims were taken to the hospital where they were listed in stable condition.
Officials say the incident is still under investigation and more information will be released pending the results.
