Boca Raton, FL – Kanner & Pintaluga is proud to announce that the Hon. Ilona M. Holmes, retired judge from the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Court, will cap off KP’s 2022 Summer Associate Program by presiding over its Mock Trial, set for August 4, in the Firm’s state-of-the-art courtroom.

“As an attorney that’s had the distinction to have argued before Judge Holmes, I can say with certainty that our summer associates are in for an incredible learning experience,” said David Lipman, Chief Legal Officer of Kanner & Pintaluga. “We are absolutely thrilled to have Judge Holmes as our honorary Judge and truly appreciate her willingness to volunteer her time and expertise to this unique event.”

Judge Holmes received her undergraduate degree from Florida Atlantic University and completed her J.D. at Texas Southern University. During her illustrious legal career spanning 36 years, she served as the Assistant State Attorney in Dade County (now Miami-Dade) under Janet Reno, the former Dade County State Attorney and U.S. Attorney General. In 1991, she became the Assistant U.S. Attorney in Fort Lauderdale and was appointed by former Governor Lawton Chiles to the circuit court in 1998, replacing Judge Carole Taylor. Judge Holmes held that position, unopposed, until her retirement in January 2019.
