How To Prevent Summer Heat Stroke
The summer heat is here, meaning your chances of experiencing heat stroke are more likely. Though you may plan to spend a lot of time outdoors this summer, it is important to protect yourself against heat stroke. This condition is very serious, which is why you should stop it before it happens to you. Heat stroke can cause you to pass out which can leave you with an injury. Here are a some helpful tips for preventing summer heat stroke.
Drink Plenty of Liquids
The number one thing to do when you are out in the sun is to drink plenty of fluids. Though you may not be physically sweating, you must keep replenishing fluids into your body. Make sure to stay away from fluids that are very high in sugar and keep yourself hydrated with water.
Protect Against the Sun
The sun’s extremely hot rays can burn your skin very easily. As your skin starts to heat up from the sun, so does the rest of your body which can lead to heat stroke. Make sure to apply sunscreen to your skin while you are outdoors. Also, it is best to wear a protective hat to keep your head cool.
Wear Loose Fitting Clothing
It is never a good idea to wear tight clothing while the sun is out. This prevent your body from getting the air it needs to cool down. Make sure to not wear multiple layers and avoid dark colored clothing. You want to be able to wear light colors such as white or yellow, that don’t obtain the sun’s rays like black or dark blue do.
Limit Your Time Outdoors
Spending a lot of time outdoors may seem ideal to enjoy the beautiful weather, but can cause you to heat up faster. It is best to go outside for short periods of times. Do not push yourself if you start to feel exhausted or tired. Go inside and cool off a bit before returning back outside.
