Officials say the accident occurred on Dwyer Road where two vehicles collided. Eyewitnesses said a man was driving a 2009 Chevy truck when he failed to observe the red light at the intersection. The Chevy crashed into a 2006 Ford Excursion that was driving into the intersection.
Officers said the crash left the Ford driver, 28-year-old Warren White from Orlando, with severe and life-threatening injuries. Reports said he suffered injuries to his head and ribs.
Paramedics arrived quickly to the scene of the accident after responding to a distress call. EMS administered first aid treatment on the victim before airlifting him, attached to a life support machine, to the nearest medical center. Officers said his current condition could not be confirmed at the time of this report.
The truck driver also sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries in the crash and was also taken to the hospital for treatment. He was not using a seat belt when the crashed happened, officers said.
No further details have been released and the incident is still under investigation.
